After counting down the months, then weeks, and then days, I have now been in Ufa, Russia for six weeks after spending five days visiting Amsterdam. My first six weeks have been very cold, very busy, and challenging in a number of ways. It has also been extremely eye-opening and an amazing experience that will only bring me closer to the Lord from here. I have been amazed at the generosity of both the believers here and my support system back home - as well as the kindness and acceptance of the locals here who have far exceeded my expectation in terms of hospitality. Being a foreigner in a strange city has taught me so much and humbled me in many ways; I am extremely grateful for my companion the Holy Spirit, who constantly is near me, guiding me and teaching me. From language club to my own studies in Russian language to everyday interactions at the grocery store, I see the Lord at work and I am humbled and honored to be involved in His mission. Mandy D.

Today marks a month and a half since being on this trip. I've had my ups and my downs but I'm starting to realize God's reason for me being in this place. I'm slowly getting the language but I understand the importance of a simple conversation. I've met new people and made friends and I can now go through a grocery store or ride a bus and not be totally lost. This experience so far has been challenging but I'm thankful for everything and everyone that God has put in my life even the events of being unintentionally alone for a few hours. Eight years ago God laid international service on my heart, specifically Europe and I plan on doing everything he tells me while seeing and experiencing everything I can in this beautiful city of Russia.
